Agricultor y político del Partido Nacional y de Renovación Nacional. Senador en distintas ocasiones y regidor por Santiago entre 1971 y 1973. Fue Delegado de Chile ante las Naciones Unidas en 1974, así como fue embajador en Colombia, embajador en Argentina y Ministro del Interior.

Carta de Sergio Onofre Jarpa al Cardenal Raúl Primatesta tras enterarse de la muerte de Monseñor Santiago Olimpo Maresma. En ella expresa su cercanía con el Monseñor Maresma y que le apenaba saber de su muerte. Finalmente le envía sus condolencias. Además, se adjunta un recorte de prensa del diario [desconocido] en el cual se expresa el fallecimiento del Obispo Olimpo Maresma. Por último, un telegrama de Sergio Onofre Jarpa a Monseñor Eduardo Rey.
