History
Fue un poeta chileno de la llamada «generación literaria de 1950», creador y exponente de la poesía lárica.
A los 12 años se inició en la escritura, leyendo libros de aventuras de autores tales como Panait Istrati, Knut Hamsun y Julio Verne, así como cuentos de hadas. Posteriormente fue influenciado por los poetas del modernismo hispanoamericano, por el creacionista Vicente Huidobro y por poetas de la tradición universal como Jorge Manrique, Rainer María Rilke y Francois Villon. Se le vincula también con Friedrich Hölderlin y Georg Trakl.
