Fue una organización guerrillera chilena de ideología política marxista-leninista, y de orientación patriótica y revolucionaria catalogado como un grupo de extrema izquierda. Fundado oficialmente el 14 de diciembre de 1983, tuvo la función de desestabilizar y agilizar las acciones armadas que tenían por objetivo culminar el derrocamiento de la dictadura militar de Augusto Pinochet.
